Monday at Chiefs Training Camp: Mansoor Delane practices in full pads, participates in all drills

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (KQTV) - After looking at the game film from Saturday's 20-12 defeat in the Preseason to the Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid liked what he saw from his rookies, but as a team overall, too many mistakes were being made on the field.

"There were some good things. It was great to get the young players in and get them moving around a little bit and see how they do under that pressure of playing in a game," said Reid. "There's some things we've got to clean up, five holding calls and the five illegal procedure penalties, you can't have those. It's just that discipline. You've got to be more disciplined than that."

A big bright spot in the first practice after the preseason game was that 2026 first-round draft pick, cornerback Mansoor Delane was in full pads and participated in all of the drills for the first time all Training Camp.

"Delane did practice today, did everything, was in all the drills and looked good. So it's good work for him," said Reid. "As he goes through that, the doctors have done their studies. He had one done the other day and it looks like he's healing up pretty good, enough to where he can get out here and do some things, and then we'll just monitor and see how he does. With the extended play, he hasn't taken that many reps as what he did today. So we'll just see how he does."

Another defensive piece and late addition on Reid's Chiefs team this season is 11-year defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah. Ogbah begins his second tenure in Kansas City. He played on the team for one season back in 2019 and helped the team win a Super Bowl. With Ogbah back, the Chiefs are hoping that happens again.

"It's coming back. It's been a long time. I always knew I was going to come back eventually. I just didn't know when. But it feels good being back. I didn't miss the dorms (in Training Camp), but it feels good," said Ogbah. "I just knew there was something for me still in Kansas City, and when you have that in the back of your head, whenever there's an opportunity or you try to come back, you go for it. That was my goal, I'm glad I was able to make it work."

Only three more Training Camp practices in St. Joseph for the Chiefs this season. KC will practice Tuesday, August 18th, 19th and the final day will be on the 20th. After that, the team will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week 2 of the Preseason on Saturday, August 22nd at 6:30 pm in Florida.
